Vikings

The Viking Age 800 - 1050 AD.
On the 8th of June 793 vikings attack and plunder the monastery at Lindisfarne in N.E. England. For the next 250 years Europe will suffer many such attacks.
A Viking is generally defined as a Scandinavian trader and pirate. However his contemporaries in Western Europe would have called him a Norseman, Northman, Heathen or perhaps Dane. In the East he was a Rus or Varangian.
